My guest on the podcast this week is Billy Decker, who was one of the first mixers in Nashville to embrace mixing in the box and one of the first to mix a #1 single ITB as well.
All totaled, he has mixed eight #1 hits so far for artists like Kenny Chesney, Darius Rucker, Jason Aldean, Jaime Lynne Spears, and Sam Hunt, but what’s so unusual is that he mixes so fast – between 2 and 3½ hours for each mix – thanks to starting from a standard mix template that he’s developed!
I spoke to Billy all about his mixing approach as well as his favorite plugins and processors from his studio in Nashville.
On the intro I’ll take a look at how YouTube just changed it’s criteria to become a Channel Partner and how that affects you monetizing videos, and a look ahead to AES@NAMM this week.
Enjoy the show!
