Spotify has about 217 million monthly users these days, and Ed Sheeran is listened to by 32% of them. In what seems to be an unbelievable figure, the company released details showing that Sheeran was heard by just over 69 million listeners in the last 30 days. He’s the #1 most listened to artist on the platform by a wide margin.

It’s been estimated that Sheeran’s music is pulling in about $158,000 per day from Spotify alone! This is mostly because the singer has 19 tracks out of Spotify’s top 200. Here the top 10 most listened artists on the list:

  1. Ed Sheeran – 69.15m
  2. Shawn Mendes – 55.96m
  3. Camila Cabello – 54.99m
  4. J Balvin – 54.58m
  5. Khalid – 54.56m
  6. Justin Bieber –52.05m
  7. Billie Eilish –50.02m
  8.  Post Malone –48.54m
  9. Lil Nas X –48.37m
  10. Daddy Yankee – 46.70m

Just to be clear, these aren’t the total amount of streams, but discrete listeners. And they’re spread around Spotify’s 80 markets around the world.

For Sheeran, the bump in listeners comes from his latest No.6 Collaborations Project, which features other hot superstars like Justin Bieber, Cardi B, and Bruno Mars among others. That said, the streams for this album hasn’t yet reached that of his previous Divide album, although that might come with time.

The fact of the matter is that a user doesn’t listen to one artist to the exclusion of all others, so many listeners are consuming music by all of the above artists and more. That said, it does show the disparity between the streaming haves and have-nots.

If you’re in music’s 1%, then streaming life is very good for you. Everyone else, not so much.
