My guest on the podcast this week is Anthony Martini, who got his start as a rap/metal vocalists before finding his way into other parts of the music business. During his management career, he worked with acts such as Lamb Of God, Fall Out Boy, Train and Sia before he discovered the then-unknown rapper Tyga.

Anthony then founded the independent record label Commission, where he signed artists like Lil Dicky, MadeinTYO, and IDK, who generated billions of streams and chart-topping singles. Along the way he was named as a Billboard Hip-Hop power player in 2019.

Anthony is now a partner at Royalty Exchange, the online marketplace for buying and selling royalties, where he drives their artist relations and deal-making.

During the interview we talked about getting into management, starting an indie record label, how artists and investors are vetted at Royalty Exchange, a look at the virtual realm of the music business, and much more.

On the intro I’ll take a look at musicians in the UK thinking about calling it quits, and the perils of being a horn and wind player during the pandemic.
