Producer Frank Fitzpatrick, YouTube Royalties, And Easing Rosewood Restrictions On My Latest Inner Circle Podcast

Frank Fitzpatrick on the Music 3.0 BlogMy guest today on the podcast is Frank Fitzpatrick, who’s a multi-platinum selling record producer, Grammy-nominated songwriter, social entrepreneur and award-winning filmmaker.

Frank started in the business in concert promotion but soon became a protege of hit producer Richard Perry. His eyes were always on music for film rather than hit songs though, and he’s been quite successful at it, with major credits like Friday, The High School Musical, The Larry Sanders Show, Pirates of Silicon Valley and the Scary Movie franchise among others.

Being socially aware and dedicated to optimizing the human potential, Frank has been a delegate to the Skoll World Forum on Social Entrepreneurship, columnist for the Huffington Post, and has presented at and helped lead numerous international forums and workshops, including for Facebook, MindValley, TEDx, Esalen, the Vatican, Singularity University, Shanghai Academy, and many more

In the interview we talked about working with the notoriously tough Richard Perry, the future of music for film, working on a video with the Pope and Dali Lama, and much more.

On the intro I’ll look at the battle over royalties between the IFPI and YouTube, and the restrictions against rosewood imports and exports being eased, which should please stringed instrument manufacturers and players.
